Profile Tips – Overview
The first thing people will see about you is your profile and so if it doesn’t grab their attention they will quickly move on to the next profile. Here are our top tips for making your profile stand out from the crowd:
Your username is the name you will be known as by other members. Choose a fun username but avoid using a name which could be interpreted as sexually provocative or offensive
Be honest in your profile, both about yourself and the type of person you’re looking for and you’ll have a much better chance of meeting someone who’s right for you. Give a good detailed description of who you are, where you are, what you do for work and what you enjoy doing in your spare time. Don’t lie about your hobbies and interests as you will be found out sooner or later! Try and be confident and positive without coming across as arrogant
Say what you’re looking for. Are you looking for a serious relationship or something more casual? Make sure you state what kind of person and relationship you’re looking for
Do not mention your ex! If you happen to have just come out of a relationship, don’t write about how heartbroken you are – you will put people off!
Don’t write too much! Write enough to get people interested and want to find out more. Don’t write an essay or there will be nothing left to talk about when you go on a date!
Avoid clichés that everyone else is using in their profiles – try and be a little creative by adding a quote from your favourite book, song or film.
Once completed, be sure to check your profile for spelling and grammar. Potential dates can see mistakes in a profile as a sign that you haven’t made enough effort. It can help to get a good friend to read through your profile and give you some honest feedback. How do you come across? Would they reply to you?
